General Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will work within our cross-functional Product Development team as Mechanical Lead in collaboration with colleagues in Electrical, Firmware, Algorithm, Software, and System Engineering. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in the design, development, and evolution of new patient monitoring device presently under development.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading, executing, and contributing to all Mechanical Engineering activities; including design, engineering, prototyping, verification, validation, and testing in the development of Murata Vios’ next-generation products.
- Write design verification plans and functional test procedures.
- Lead collaboration with outside design firm through design, prototyping, and design transfer.
- Analyze technical issues using methodical problem-solving techniques and provide root cause and solutions.
- Lead and perform design verification test, including offsite test management.
- Lead and mentor engineers in development areas of research, design, and engineering.
- Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering practices and ownership.
- Network with other function members, including entity in foreign geography.
Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities
- Lead design reviews, FMEA analyses, and other DFx related activities.
- Lead supplier qualification in the mechanical area.
- Transfer design to EMS with the necessary documentation.
- Budget, purchase and maintain the necessary equipment and software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.
- 2+ years of experience in medical device development of the full product cycle from inception through maturity.
- SolidWorks CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, and complex configuration management.
- Experience in designing plastic housing for medical devices or wearable devices.
- Knowledge of injection molding and related engineering.
- Proven experience creating associated documentation specs, test plans, drawings (per ANSI Y-14.5), etc.
- Experience working under medical device regulations, such as ISO13485 and 21CFR820.
- Knowledge of Industrial Standards related to medical device development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- Vital signs monitoring device development experience.
- Knowledge of electrical design and manufacturing.
- Experiences working with multicultural environments.
