Technical Program Manager
Job Summary
The Technical Program Manager works closely with the AMSD manager to overview the AMSD team and works closely with the team to implement processes to resolve complex issues and ensure new improved processes prevent similar issues from recurring. Additionally, this position will drive weekly status reviews with the AMSD team, quarterly AMSD updates, as well as monthly reviews of the AMSD tasks and project priorities with the engineering product management and leadership. They will help to facilitate the communication between the AMSD team and the other pSemi teams such as modeling, technology and product teams. They will play a key role in working with cross-functional teams, such as Marketing, Product and Test Engineering to support pSemi’s advanced products from product definition through product release to end-of-life. The Technical Program Manager is also responsible to overview the usage of resources across the R&D department and provides critical information for Monthly Business Reviews (MBR). Furthermore, they will work with the AMSD manager to address any complex issues that could affect the team and related products in terms of specifications and deadlines.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
• Utilize foundational industry, technical and program management knowledge to support continuous process improvement initiatives
• Define improved processes within AMSD and rollout improvements to increase efficiency in other departments of pSemi where applicable
• Manage weekly AMSD status reviews to ensure groups are aligned, action items are captured and required involvement from other cross functional teams and stakeholders occurs
• Oversee the verification and validation processes to ensure designs meet quality requirements
• Own monthly AMSD overview presentation with AMSD leadership to track team priorities, responsibilities, contributions, etc.
• Identify potential technical risks in the AMSD design process and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success
• Leverage internal relationships to ensure priorities align with engineering strategic goals
• Remove communication gaps and develop transparent communication channels between AMSD and other groups to adaptively communicate schedules, priorities, status and risk to stakeholders
• Ensure cross functional commitments and engagements from collaborative teams to align quality expectations based on internal and customer requirements
• Run monthly reviews between AMSD, modeling, technology and product teams
• Own the implementation consistent JIRA utilization and best practices across the AMSD and R&D organization to drive efficiency, productivity and effectiveness
• Analyze usage of resources across pSemi R&D organization and provide summary information to support Monthly Business Reviews (MBR) with executive team to ensure optimal resource and headcount allocations for critical business decisions
• Expertly resolve complex issues and bottlenecks impacting team project deadlines
Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
• 20+ years’ experience or equivalent in semiconductor design, verification
• 15+ years’ experience in managing individuals and teams
• Understand the overall NPI flow from early definition to production
• Excellent communication, management, and coaching skills; able to simplify complex ideas and mentor team members to grow and achieve excellent results
• Demonstrated project management skill to coordinate activities across multiple designs simultaneously
• Understanding of Program Management tools such as Microsoft Project, Saviom, JIRA
• Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
• Demonstrated experience in ASIC systems and circuit analysis, digital architectures, design & front-end support, verification/validation, mid/back-end coordination, test, product development, and mass production product releases
• Has strong Program Management experience. Is very knowledgeable about the program management techniques and is able to drive Continuous Process Improvement across the organization
• Key technical skillsets:
o Fundamental knowledge of digital circuits, transistor level design, systems, and architectures
o Fundamental knowledge of ISO9000 concepts and related Quality Management System
o Strong knowledge of semiconductor design flow from early definition to full production
o Expertise designing digital and analog circuits, state-machines, serial interfaces, and integrating IP such as SRAM, OTP
o Familiarity with interface specifications such as MIPI RFEE, SPI, I2C, I3C etc.
o Fundamental knowledge of high-level programming languages
o Familiarity with pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation methodologies.
o Familiarity with test methodologies including DFT and scan insertion
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of Program Management tools such as Microsoft Project, Saviom, JIRA
• Knowledge of design and verification techniques
• Experience in IP development and integration
• Understanding of semiconductor consumer product life cycle
• Experience working with global design and cross functional teams
Education Requirements
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
• Solid Program Management Education
