Job Summary

The Staff Engineer, Sustaining Test performs a variety of assignments while supporting global sustaining test and high-volume manufacturing.  The Staff Engineer owns, improves, and sustains automated probe and final test solutions across proprietary and commercial ATE platforms. This position works closely with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.

 

The selected candidate will have an advanced understanding in semiconductor test and wafer probe methods and can generate design of experiments, analyze data, and use results to drive engineering decisions. The Staff Engineer operates with minimal guidance, determines methods and procedures, and thrives in fast-paced environment requiring strong organization, innovation, and attention to detail.  

 

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

  • Serving as a liaison between new test development and manufacturing teams to facilitate new product introduction and sustain existing products.
  • Coordinating with internal and offshore production test facilities to establish, qualify, and sustain ATE solutions.
  • Ensuring existing methods and procedures are followed and contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Rapidly mastering new automated testers and helping standardize associated methods and best practices.
  • Providing troubleshooting support, recurring problem detection, root cause analysis, and driving resolution of manufacturing test issues.
  • Reviewing production test methods and procedures, identifying improvement opportunities, and leading crossfunctional actions to implement changes.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

  • Typically 6–8+ years of relevant experience in sustaining test for high‑volume semiconductor production.
  • Demonstrated experience in new product introduction and sustaining test solutions for wafer probe and/or packaged ICs.
  • Proficient in C++ for test program development/maintenance.
  • Experience with the Teradyne Eagle 364 tester or a similar system
  • Strong cross‑functional collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to apply engineering methods, perform statistical data analysis, and draw conclusions from complex production data.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuits and test concepts.
  • Experience with lab test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes).
  • Demonstrated ability to solve PMIC debug and measurement challenges.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills; ability to perform in a fastpaced production environment.
