Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting product engineering activities from product kick-off through production ramp and sustaining. To ensure sure a high-quality product is released to production, the successful person will execute proper test and characterization coverage for new products in order guarantee product performance while contributing to cost and quality objectives through test and data analysis. This position will collaborate with Design, Characterization, Test, Manufacturing, Reliability, Applications, Foundry and Marketing groups to support project execution and data-driven decision making.
The assigned projects will be moderate in scope and will require this position to exercise judgment within the defined procedures and practices to complete the projects. The Engineer, Product Engineering position will follow instructions and apply company policies and procedures to drive decisions. Product Engineering is responsible for moving products from a proven design into production. This position will be expected to coordinate activities with other engineers working on the project. This person filling this role will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of commitment and be flexible to project needs. The position must be a team player and possess a sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
- New Product Introduction: Support verification that new products meet product development requirements prior to production release. Support production / Characterization / Reliability plans, support design engineering with extensive data analysis/reporting and launching new products into high volume production by evaluating reliability, properties and techniques used in production. Support experiments to study product performance and capabilities, analyze test and characterization data to identify performance issues or show product meets marketing requirements.
- Product Sustaining: Monitor initial product yields and quality and apply data analysis skills to support improvements during production. Support review and disposition production lots as necessary. Help with various test time reduction efforts.
- Change Control: Review any changes in production processes and how the change may impact product performance or reliability. Perform any necessary electrical characterization to support change qualification.
- Failure Analysis: Using guidance and inputs from other group members, work on failure analysis studies on customer returns or to study failure modes that impact yield.
- Team Collaboration: With guidance from the manager or senior engineers, coordinate assigned tasks across cross-functional teams to support new product transition to production. Contribute technical input, track assigned action items, and ensure required data and documentation are completed on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
- 2+ years of experience in Product Engineering or Design Engineering
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
- Working knowledge with software such as Datapower, JMP, Cadence, Matlab
- Background working with large datasets and applying statistical methods to draw conclusions
- Experience with any of the following products: PA, LNA, Switch, Digital Attenuators, Phase Shifters, DC-DC converters, PMIC
- Hands on experience of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
