Job Summary

The Senior Staff Systems Engineer will possess excellent understanding of 4G/5G Cellular Systems, cross-functional leadership and customer communication skills. The Senior Staff Systems Engineer will help define the future of RF Front-End market by driving our long-term architecture roadmap, setting device specifications & validation requirements, and driving our customers towards our vision of the future.

 

The Senior Staff Systems Engineer will be an experienced RF and Analog/Mixed Signal hardware engineer who is adept at system design and analysis in support of Mobile Wireless Communications, and other applications such as Wireless Infrastructure, Wi-Fi, and Broadband Communications. This person will define new products based upon system constraints enabling profitable growth of the Company. Key functional responsibilities will include: System architecture analysis, RF link budget analysis, digital control system definition, product performance requirements, assisting in product and technology road mapping, and competitor analysis. In this position, you will define new product specifications and guide technology planning to support the growth of the business.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

  • Define and document complete radio architecture definitions that expand pSemi’s core competencies and technologies
  • Provide definition and roadmaps for architectures, RF Front Ends, and RF/AMS ICs, digital control systems and interfaces, and any supporting algorithms
  • Identify technical core competencies and functional capability that need to be developed to make product lines successful
  • Support marketing and design engineering with insights concerning technical requirements of wireless markets and industry standards
  • Conduct system and sub-system analyses to define functionality and specification requirements of highly integrated products
  • Technical interface with customer engineering teams and system architects
  • Support IP generation activities and develop and apply novel concepts
  • Assist in defining requirements of automated test equipment

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

  • Typically requires 8 to 12+ years in work experience in RF systems and applications engineering, depending on level of education and experience
  • Ability to maintain technical expertise/competence with the ever-changing technology and dynamic industry landscape
  • In-depth understanding of 3GPP mobile wireless RF requirements - Involvement with a relevant standards body a plus
  • Solid overall knowledge of wireless architectures and considerations including distributed antenna architectures, high efficiency PA architectures, DPD, MIMO, and active antennas
  • Ability to develop system models and perform complex simulations using Matlab and other system and circuit level simulation tools
  • Experience working with an RFIC, FEM, and/or radio design team and successfully introducing new products to the commercial market
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills, a passion to win/contribute, ability to work in and thrive in a team environment
  • Willing to travel >20% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge of Cellular standards and how they impact pSemi’s products
  • Good understanding of Radio architectures and how they define product requirements
  • Good planning, organization, and time management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple communication standards, such as 3GPP, NB-IoT, Bluetooth, 802.11
  • In-depth understanding of product life cycle concepts and the impact of system architecting on meeting product cost and manufacturability goals
  • Antenna design experience, digital design definition and implementation

 

Education Requirements

  • BS degree in electrical engineering required
  • MS or PhD degree in electrical engineering preferred

Minimum salary: $179,553.93

Maximum salary: $233,433.04
