Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing technical and strategic support to pSemi’s customers for RFIC products within USA West Sales Territory and defining regional technical capabilities to grow the business. The Senior Staff Field Applications Engineer will be required to interface with customers to support design win activities, new product definitions, new technical market trend insights and educating customers about pSemi’s products and the best use of these as well as providing customer, system and market feedback to the product lines and management.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
- Providing technical customer support in designated geographical USA West Sales Territory. This includes but it is not limited to:
- Interfacing with customers to support all design activity using pSemi products
- Reviewing and recommending improvements to existing customer designs
- Distilling from customer best practice and technical demands to aid
- Collaborating with the Sales team on technical issues and new product applications
- Pre-sale technical promotion to customers with regards to company solutions and technology
- Performing advanced measurements in an RF laboratory at a component level and understand the implications at a system level
- Writing application notes and/or developing reference designs
- Scouting for and providing feedback to Marketing and Design Engineering on product improvements
- Attending conferences and/or supporting Marketing Communications with the aim to gain system and market intelligence and to promote and represent pSemi
- Effectively train sales engineers inside and outside pSemi’s direct sales organization on product and system opportunities
- Staying abreast of current trends within the RF industry and related customer implementation plans
- Summarize trends, challenges and opportunities from across the customer base entrusted and from the USA West Sales Territory to report and align with Global Sales as regional engineering strategy
- Abstract and distill from the many customer and 3rd party cases to formulate needs, resources and priorities for the region and communicate them compellingly with in pSemi and Murata
Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
- Typically requires 12+ years of experience in an RF/microwave design environment
- Extensive knowledge of RF building blocks including switches, LNA’s, mixers, synthesizers, filters, amplifiers, and power amplifiers
- Strong understanding of commercial wireless and broadband standards such as 3GPP, Wi-Fi, DOCSIS, UWB.
- Hands-on experience in using software tools for Layout, Schematic and Simulation such as Mentor, Allegro, OrCAD, and ADS
- Extensive knowledge of RF measurement techniques including S-parameters, noise figure, IP3, power compression, ACPR and standard specific requirements with a strong familiarity with lab test equipment associated with these measurements such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and Signal Generators for analyzing RF circuits /systems
- Technical writing skills for application notes and/or customer documentation
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand system design
- Good oral communication in English
- Demonstrated ability to work well with customers, promotes a positive image of the company, strives to solve issues raised by customers
- Willingness to travel to customer locations within USA West sales territory 25-35% of time as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in system design and analysis down to the RF block level
- Knowledge of Murata’s business and passive components
- Knowledge of Power Management solutions
Education Requirements
- BSEE or local equivalent
- MSEE preferred

USD: 161,323.36 - 209,731.98 per year
