Our US IP organization is a multifaceted matrix organization, aligned with advancing current business interests and catalyzing technology development to enable future business opportunities. You will be responsible for making key contributions to the creation, strengthening, management, and utilization of a high-value patent portfolio focused on RFFE IC devices, circuits, and process technologies for wireless communications.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Working with our engineering and product development teams in seeding, harvesting, and developing invention disclosures
  • Contributing to strategic projects leveraging our IP portfolio for implementing our business strategy
  • Working with our RF prosecution team and inventors in capturing high-value patents (and trade secrets) in alignment with our business goals
  • Defining and leading reverse engineering projects, analyzing teardown reports at both module and circuit/die levels, and developing Claim Charts and business cases for strategic utilization
  • Defining and implementing competitive patent portfolio analysis based on specific business needs

 

Technical Focus Area

This role focuses on building, analyzing, optimizing, and utilizing a patent portfolio that is aimed at providing a competitive advantage in RF semiconductor application domains.

 

Qualifications 

 

Basic Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or physics, or equivalent industry experience in RF circuits, systems/modules, and devices
  • Minimum 3-year of experience in RF devices and RF circuit design, including PA, LNA, switches and filters.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Prior exposure to patents, patent prosecution, and defensive or offensive utilization of patents.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional experience/knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
  • IC process and manufacturing technologies and/or packaging
    • Leading reverse engineering tasks and performing analysis of tear-down reports at the circuit, die, and module levels
    • RFFE systems and architecture
  • USPTO registration as a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney, though not required
  • Demonstrated ability to originate and develop novel patent assertion theses, including articulating technical, business justifications and risk mitigation, experience in claim charting, licensing models, IP strategy, and competitive landscape analysis              
  • Demonstrated curiosity, passion, and an open mind for problem solving and creating new opportunities at the intersection of technology, business, and intellectual property
  • Prior experience in interacting with or working at multi-national organizations.

 

 Location & Work Arrangement

The successful candidate is preferably located in San Diego, CA. This position could be a hybrid position with 2-3 days a week in-person presence at the pSemi San Diego offices.

While proximity to this location is preferred, we welcome candidates whose skills and experience strongly align with the role, and who can collaborate effectively across distributed teams. In addition, this position may require occasional travel —to various company sites in North America and Japan, based on business needs.

 

USD 168,720.93 - 219,349.36 per year
