General Summary

The RF Applications Engineer works with the RF systems team to characterize the performance of the complete technology, including RF PA, PMIC, algorithms, and software. The successful candidate will have a background in RF testing of 2G-5G and WiFi devices, have familiarity with digital pre-distortion and supply modulation (envelope tracking), and be comfortable with troubleshooting all kinds of RF issues.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute system validation plans in coordination with RF system engineer.
  • Understand and optimize the performance of the ETAdvanced digital envelope tracking system.
  • Set up, calibrate, and measure RF cellular transmit performance against 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G requirements (e.g. ACLR, EVM, efficiency, RxBN, OOBE).
  • Use RF test and measurement equipment (e.g. VSA, spectrum analyzer, power meter, VNA).
  • Work with cross-functional teams to help debug the root cause of issues found during validation or production.
  • Organize and report validation data to internal and external teams.

Required Qualifications

  • BSEE or MSEE plus at least 2+ years experience in validating RF front-end components.
  • Familiar with 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G standards and requirements.
  • Making RF and analog measurements in the lab with high confidence and high reliability.
  • Using software developed in MATLAB, understanding MATLAB code.
  • Hands-on experience using common RF lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, vector signal analyzers, and power meters.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB rework when needed.
  • Highly desirable: experience with NI test equipment, ET or DPD systems.
  • Highly desirable: experience with instrument control using MATLAB, with Git source control.
